Caitlin Clark and Alyssa Thomas remain locked in a tight race for the 2026 WNBA assists per game lead, with both averaging 8.4 APG through late August. Clark's high-usage role with the Indiana Fever, including elite three-point gravity that creates open looks for teammates like Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, sustains her volume despite elevated turnovers. Thomas delivers comparable efficiency from the forward spot for the Phoenix Mercury, combining playmaking with strong rebounding and defense while posting the league's highest assist rate. Jordin Canada trails at 7.4 APG, with Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young further behind. Recent form, including Clark's multi-30-point, 10-assist outbursts, and Thomas's consistent totals, underpins the narrow trader consensus favoring Clark by a slim margin heading into the final stretch.
