Xiang, the No. 9-ranked Chinese right-hand shakehand player aged 23, enters off a recent 1-3 quarterfinal loss to Liang Jingkun at WTT Champions Chongqing, potentially signaling minor form dip amid a packed schedule. Mladenovic, 27 from Luxembourg, has surged 89 ranking spots in the past month with strong showings, including a WTT Star Contender debut win and feeder quarterfinal victories, fueling upset potential. Late scratches, equipment tweaks, or group stage fatigue could swing odds, as both employ shakehand grips in a high-spin environment.
