This market will resolve according to which film earns the highest domestic box office gross for the weekend of September 25 - 27, 2026. The "Daily Box Office Performance" figures found on the "Box Office" tab on The Numbers (https://www.the-numbers.com/) will be used to resolve this market once the values for the 3-day weekend are final (i.e., not studio estimates). If two or more films are tied for the highest weekend gross, this market will resolve in favor of the film whose listed title comes first alphabetically. If none of the listed films earns the highest domestic weekend gross, this market will resolve to "Other". Please note, this market will resolve according to the The Numbers figures provided under Weekend Box Office Performance for the 3-day weekend (which typically includes Thursday's previews), regardless of whether domestic refers to only the USA, or to USA and Canada, etc. If there is ambiguity as to whether the resolution source's figures are final, this market will remain open until both https://www.boxofficemojo.com/ and https://www.the-numbers.com/ have confirmed their finalized figures. If there is no final data available by October 2, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, another credible resolution source will be chosen.Resident Evil's dominant $60 million opening the prior weekend, the franchise's best ever and a career high for director Zach Cregger, positions it as the clear frontrunner to repeat at number one. Strong word-of-mouth, a B+ CinemaScore, and typical horror hold patterns support trader consensus around its 74% implied probability, as second-weekend drops often leave it above $25 million. New wide releases including Heart of the Beast, Forgotten Island, and Primetime carry solid but uncertain tracking in the mid-teens, while the Avengers: Endgame Encore re-release projects around $20 million-plus yet faces limited theatrical footprint. Market-implied odds reflect these competitive dynamics and the tight window before final grosses lock.
