Robin Montgomery, the 21-year-old American left-hander, meets 28-year-old Australian Maddison Inglis in the opening round of Roland Garros qualifying on clay. The pair has no prior head-to-head history. Montgomery, whose career-high ranking reached No. 95 in 2025 before an injury layoff after Wimbledon, brings a powerful baseline game suited to the slower surface, while Inglis enters with stronger recent results including a fourth-round run at the 2026 Australian Open and a current ranking near No. 141. Both players are seeking their first main-draw appearance at the French Open, with the winner advancing to the second qualifying round amid a field where recent form on European clay and physical freshness will heavily influence outcomes.
