Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No. 2 seed and defending champion from 2025, faces qualifier Karolina Pliskova in the Upper Austria Ladies Linz round of 16 on the tournament's debut indoor clay courts. Ranked No. 13, Alexandrova withdrew from last week's Charleston Open due to a lower back injury, marking her first match back, while holding a balanced 2-2 head-to-head record against the former world No. 1. Pliskova, at No. 258 via protected ranking amid her post-ankle surgery comeback (missed most of 2025), defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-4, 6-4 in the opener, showing improved movement. Trader consensus reflects Alexandrova's ranking edge and Linz success against Pliskova's underdog momentum on the slower surface favoring baseline rallies over pure serving power.
