In the Copa Colsanitas qualification on Bogotá's high-altitude outdoor clay courts, Spaniard Irene Burillo Escorihuela enters as the clear experience favorite at WTA No. 255 with a solid ITF/Challenger clay record of 253-203, coming off mixed recent results including early March ITF wins. Facing her is 18-year-old Colombian wildcard Mariana Isabel Higuita Barraza, ranked No. 1057 with limited pro success—recent clay losses like a 6-1, 6-1 defeat in Antalya W15—and no prior head-to-head. Higuita's local acclimatization to the 2,600m elevation, where balls travel farther due to thinner air, plus home crowd support, adds upset potential in this unpredictable qualifier, though Burillo's pedigree drives trader consensus toward her advancement.
