The race for Langley Township mayor remains closely contested between incumbent Eric Woodward of the Progress For Langley slate and challenger Jay Lundgren of Langley Strong, with the October 17, 2026, vote shaping trader views on name recognition and organizational strength. Woodward’s group holds a current council majority and highlights completed infrastructure projects, road widenings, parks, and fire halls funded amid rapid population growth. Lundgren’s team, backed by four sitting councillors, emphasizes rising per-household debt—more than tripling since 2022—and calls for greater fiscal restraint and resident input on development. A pending B.C. Supreme Court petition seeking to disqualify Woodward and two councillors over a separate defamation action adds uncertainty, while both sides continue adding candidates. Late resolution of the legal matter, shifts in construction activity, or clear polling on debt concerns versus service delivery could widen the gap ahead of election day.
