Ayano Shimizu enters the W35 Taipei hard-court event with stronger recent form on Asian surfaces, including qualifier wins and main-draw progress in May–June W100 events in Japan and China. The 28-year-old Japanese player holds a head-to-head edge over Priska Madelyn Nugroho, including a 2024 victory on similar hard courts. Nugroho, the younger Indonesian ranked near 435, arrives after a first-round loss in Zhengzhou and limited 2026 singles results. Both compete at the ITF W35 level where experience, consistency on hard courts, and recent match volume often decide early-round outcomes. Trader consensus reflects these factors alongside surface familiarity and travel considerations for the Taipei draw.
