The FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind opens the 2026 FedExCup Playoffs with a deep field of in-form PGA Tour professionals, producing tightly bunched implied probabilities for first-round leader. No single player has separated on recent scoring trends or course history, while the demanding layout—with its water-lined fairways and firm greens—rewards aggressive play but punishes mistakes, keeping early-round variance high. Multiple contenders, including Scheffler, McIlroy, Aberg, and Fitzpatrick, enter with strong ball-striking metrics and momentum from the regular season, yet first-round leader markets historically favor a broad mix of outcomes rather than established favorites. This trader consensus underscores the event's parity and the limited predictive edge any one golfer holds after 18 holes.
