Anthropic's April 16 release of Claude Opus 4.7—boasting benchmark-leading gains in software engineering, agentic tasks, vision processing, and self-verifying long-running workflows—has solidified its edge over rivals like OpenAI's GPT-5.x and xAI's Grok, but dashed hopes for an immediate Claude 5 debut, anchoring trader consensus toward Q2-Q3 2026 timelines with under 1% implied probability by April 30 and 12% by May 31. This incremental 4.x update follows February's Opus 4.6 amid Anthropic's rapid 2026 cadence of biweekly features, while leaks on advanced Mythos Preview (cyber-focused, limited-release) and Sonnet 5 fuel speculation without official confirmation. Watch for developer conference teases or earnings hints that could shift odds, as AI model timelines often slip due to safety evaluations and compute constraints.

For this market to resolve to "Yes," Claude 5 must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be clearly defined and publicly announced by Anthropic as being accessible to the general public.
Claude 5 refers to a product explicitly named Claude 5 (e.g. Claude 5.0 would count), or one that is recognized as a successor to Claude 4, similar to the progression from Claude 2 to Claude 3. Products labeled as Claude 4.5 or similar will not count for this market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Anthropic, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.
