The Kansas City Royals enter the three-game series in Cincinnati with a sub-.500 record and sit fourth in the AL Central, hampered by multiple injuries including second baseman Jonathan India’s season-ending shoulder surgery and recent placements of pitchers Nick Mears and others on the injured list. Additional setbacks such as Maikel Garcia’s hamstring strain have thinned the lineup and bullpen. The Cincinnati Reds, hovering near .500 and competitive in the NL Central, host at Great American Ball Park with stronger recent form and home advantage. Pitching matchups and bullpen availability will shape outcomes in what figures as a challenging road test for the Royals amid their ongoing roster challenges.
