The St. Louis Cardinals (37-28) enter the three-game series at Target Field holding a stronger position in the NL Central than the Minnesota Twins (31-38) in the AL Central, though both clubs carry notable injuries. Cardinals infielder Ramón Urías and reliever Ryan Fernandez sit on the IL, while the Twins are without catcher Ryan Jeffers and starter Bailey Ober; Lars Nootbaar remains sidelined long-term. Probable starters Kyle Leahy (5-3, 4.42 ERA) for St. Louis and Joe Ryan (4-3, 3.07 ERA) for Minnesota set up a favorable home matchup for the Twins, who also benefit from recent head-to-head success by Cardinals hitters such as Jordan Walker against Ryan. The Cardinals arrive after snapping a six-game win streak with a June 11 loss to the Mets, while Minnesota seeks to leverage its home pitching edge and recent form in a tightly contested interleague set.
