In the first round of the Busan Challenger on hard courts, No. 112 Sho Shimabukuro faces No. 219 Ilia Simakin in a rematch of their evenly split 1-1 head-to-head, with Simakin's latest win coming via Shimabukuro's retirement at 7-5, 3-2 in the 2025 Suzhou Challenger. Shimabukuro enters with shaky recent form, posting a 1-4 YTD singles record including a straight-sets loss to Naoya Honda in Yokkaichi last week and qualifier defeats, potentially signaling fitness concerns after prior withdrawals. Simakin shows stronger momentum, advancing to second rounds in recent hard-court Challengers like Wuning before a three-set exit to Pavel Kotov. No injuries or withdrawals noted; trader consensus likely weighs rankings against form disparities in this main-draw opener.
