Alternate metrics that differ in definition or scope will not be considered.Amazon’s 2026 capital expenditures are being driven primarily by accelerating demand for AWS AI infrastructure, including data centers, servers, networking, and custom chips. Management raised full-year cash capex guidance to approximately $220 billion in July 2026 from the prior $200 billion target, citing higher memory costs, while noting that even this level leaves insufficient capacity to meet contracted demand through 2027. Year-to-date spending reached roughly $173 billion through June, with Q2 alone at $54 billion, contributing to a trailing-twelve-month free-cash-flow outflow of $7.6 billion. AWS revenue grew 37% year-over-year in Q2 to a $169 billion annualized run rate, supported by multi-year customer commitments. Traders will monitor Q3 results, expected in late October, for any further revisions to spending or capacity utilization trends.
