Tadej Pogačar enters the 2026 Vuelta a España as the clear market leader at 89% implied probability, driven by his status as a five-time Tour de France winner fresh off that July victory and seeking the only Grand Tour missing from his palmarès. UAE Team Emirates-XRG confirmed his participation shortly after the Tour, positioning the Slovenian—who leads UCI rankings and has shown unmatched consistency in stage races—against a route with significant elevation gain, multiple summit finishes, and an opening time trial that aligns with his strengths. Recent previews highlight how his training, recovery, and results create a substantial gap over rivals like Florian Lipowitz and Richard Carapaz. Scenarios that could still shift outcomes include crashes, illness, or mechanical issues in the opening weeks, or unexpected strong performances from domestiques and climbers on the altered mountain stages in southern Spain.
