Matej Dodig and Yi Zhou meet for the first time in the opening round of Roland Garros qualifying on clay, where their near-identical ATP rankings around the low 200s reflect a tightly matched contest. Dodig, the 20-year-old Croatian with a career-high of 199, arrives after a straight-sets loss in a recent Zagreb qualifier but brings solid clay-court experience from European futures and challengers. Zhou, the 21-year-old Chinese player ranked 220 after peaking at 219, has shown consistency on the ITF and Challenger circuits yet remains untested at Grand Slam level. With no prior head-to-head and both players seeking their first main-draw appearance at a major, recent form on red clay and physical freshness after short turnarounds will likely shape the outcome in this best-of-three encounter.
