Essex Women host Somerset Women in the Vitality Blast Women at Chelmsford on July 7, with Somerset holding a clear edge in recent form and table position. Somerset sit around fourth after consistent results, powered by captain Sophie Luff’s run-scoring and contributions from players like Anika Learoyd, while Essex have endured heavy defeats including a 153-run loss to Lancashire and a nine-wicket thrashing by The Blaze. Essex’s batting has shown occasional resilience through Liberty Heap but has been undermined by collapses and strong opposition bowling attacks. Home advantage offers Essex some compensation, yet Somerset’s balanced attack and momentum make them the stronger side heading into the fixture. No significant injury or selection issues have emerged ahead of the match.
