Official NWS forecasts for Houston on August 27 project a high near 99°F under mostly sunny skies with a 40% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, driven by lingering high pressure, southwest flow, and rising moisture that supports heat indices near 103°F. Recent model runs show slight cooling potential from increased cloud cover and scattered convection, which could prevent temperatures from reaching the 100°F+ levels seen earlier in the week. With leading market bins clustered at 94–97°F, traders appear to weigh the balance between these insulating high-pressure conditions and the moderating effects of diurnally driven storms, alongside historical late-August variability where such setups often produce outcomes in the mid-to-upper 90s. Updated NHC and local guidance tomorrow morning will likely refine the outcome.
