This market will resolve according to the person who is appointed as the next permanent manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. If no permanent manager is appointed by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other." Appointments of 'interim,' 'caretaker,' or other non-permanent managers will not impact this market's resolution. An announcement of a new permanent manager's appointment before this market's close date will immediately resolve this market to the corresponding option, regardless of when the announced appointment goes into effect. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Philadelphia Phillies; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The Phillies' midseason dismissal of Rob Thomson on April 28, 2026, after a dismal 9-19 start and MLB-worst run differential, opened a search for his permanent successor following Don Mattingly's interim appointment. Trader consensus reflects a crowded field of experienced candidates, with Brad Ausmus, Mattingly, George Lombard, and Alex Cora clustered within roughly four points due to overlapping managerial pedigrees, recent bench-coach or coordinator roles, and alignment with president Dave Dombrowski's preference for steady leadership amid a high-payroll roster featuring strong starting pitching. Recent form, internal promotions, and external availability keep the implied probabilities competitive, as no frontrunner has pulled away in the early weeks of the search.
