The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled for September 14, 2026, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. This market will resolve to "Yes" if any presenter or winner drops an Emmy statuette on stage during the live broadcast of the ceremony. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For the purposes of this market, a "drop" means the statuette unintentionally leaves the holder's hands entirely and makes contact with the floor or stage surface. Bobbling, slipping fingers, or briefly losing grip without the statuette falling out of the hand and hitting the ground will not qualify. Drops occurring backstage, at the Governors Ball, or at any other afterparty or secondary event which is not part of the televised ceremony will not be considered. If the ceremony is canceled or postponed beyond September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be the official broadcast of the ceremony. The strong trader consensus behind a 94.8% “No” reflects the Emmy Awards’ long track record of controlled stage logistics and careful trophy handling, with no verified instances of an on-stage drop during the main primetime ceremony across decades of broadcasts. Professional stage crews, rehearsed handoffs, and the poise of nominees and presenters minimize mishaps, even amid high-stakes acceptance moments. While an unexpected trip, overly enthusiastic winner, or last-second prop issue could theoretically occur at the September 14, 2026, Peacock Theater telecast hosted by Mariska Hargitay, such events remain statistically rare given the academy’s established protocols and the absence of recent precedents.
