Top-seeded defending champion Alexander Zverev faces fifth seed Francisco Cerúndolo in the BMW Open quarterfinals on Munich's outdoor clay, where Cerúndolo holds a perfect 3-0 head-to-head edge despite Zverev's overall 4-3 series lead. Zverev, a three-time winner here with home-crowd support from Bayern Munich stars courtside, rebounded from a shaky three-set R1 escape against Kecmanović to dominate Gabriel Diallo 6-1, 6-2 yesterday, building on his Monte-Carlo semifinals run. Cerúndolo, a clay specialist with a Buenos Aires title and 10 clay wins this season, cruised past Nagal and van de Zandschulp, dropping just seven games combined after upsetting Tsitsipas in Monte-Carlo. No injuries reported for either, setting up a stylistic clash favoring baseline grinders.
