Alison Jarman holds the leading position in the Devonport mayoral market as the incumbent mayor heading into the October 2026 Tasmanian local government elections. Her edge reflects ongoing visibility through council initiatives on infrastructure, childcare expansion, budget planning, and active transport strategies during the current term. Steve Martin, a sitting councillor and prior mayoral candidate, trails as the main challenger. Multiple other candidates and the "other" option remain at lower implied probabilities amid limited public differentiation so far. The contest stays competitive due to Tasmania's preferential voting system for mayor and deputy mayor roles, where voter preferences among a field of independents could shift outcomes. Late-campaign developments such as candidate forums, local issue polling, or turnout patterns in key wards may widen or narrow the gap before ballots close.
