Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council has maintained the August 30, 2026, first-round date for presidential and legislative elections despite the April 2026 postponement of voter and candidate registration, which officials attributed to a new decree and pledged to reschedule promptly. Over 300 political groups have registered to participate, and the Transitional Presidential Council continues to prioritize completing the process by early 2027 to install elected officials. Persistent gang violence and funding shortfalls remain the primary obstacles, yet the council's revised calendar and statements from Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé signal commitment to the timeline, supporting trader consensus that another major postponement is unlikely.
