Revisions to the wind speed recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following month has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.Mount Washington’s summit experiences significantly lower wind speeds in August due to a weaker jet stream and reduced extratropical cyclone activity during summer, with historical peak gusts rarely exceeding 100–150 mph compared to winter extremes. Current observations from the Mount Washington Observatory show light conditions, with recent gusts below 40 mph and averages around 15–25 mph. Traders focus on any approaching frontal systems or tropical remnants that could briefly elevate speeds, though NOAA models indicate limited intensification potential early in the month. Resolution depends on official anemometer data for the full August period, with new daily reports and forecast updates from the observatory serving as key inputs for assessing whether typical calm patterns hold.
