Recent National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble models project a high near 79°F for Chicago on September 7, with northeast winds off Lake Michigan moderating daytime warming and keeping lake-adjacent areas several degrees cooler. This follows early-September heat exceeding 95°F and aligns closely with the 1991–2020 daily normal of 79.3°F. Trader consensus splitting evenly between the 78–79°F and 80–81°F bins reflects minor model spread in cloud cover, wind speed, and boundary-layer mixing that could shift the peak by a degree or two. Updated NWS guidance and next model cycles will likely clarify resolution before the close.
