World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, the defending Miami Open champion, enters the 2026 final on outdoor hard courts undefeated in sets throughout the tournament, capping a dominant semifinal win over No. 2 Elena Rybakina 6-4, 6-3 while pursuing the rare Sunshine Double after her recent Indian Wells title. No. 4 seed Coco Gauff, a Florida native, overcame a left-arm nerve issue that sidelined her at Indian Wells, grinding through four three-setters before crushing Karolina Muchova 6-1, 6-1 in the semis and boasting a perfect 9-0 record in hard-court finals. Their head-to-head ties at 6-6 overall, with Sabalenka leading 5-4 on hard courts and victorious in the latest meeting at the 2025 WTA Finals; expect a battle of Sabalenka's pulverizing groundstrokes against Gauff's elite athleticism and returns.
