The fragile ceasefire established after the May 2025 four-day conflict, in which India conducted missile and drone strikes on alleged militant infrastructure under Operation Sindoor following the Pahalgam attack, continues to hold into August 2026. Trader sentiment reflects this stability, with low implied probabilities for renewed Indian strikes by year-end, supported by India's recent large-scale arrests of over 200 Pakistan-linked operatives to thwart attacks and Pakistan's anniversary warnings of strong responses without escalation. Persistent factors include cross-border terrorism concerns, high-alert status along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, and limited official dialogue, though informal Track 2 contacts have occurred. Scheduled developments such as potential militant infiltration attempts or policy shifts on issues like the Indus Waters Treaty could influence near-term risks, but no major catalysts have emerged recently.

For the purposes of this market, a qualifying "strike" is defined as the use of aerial bombs, drones, or missiles (including cruise or ballistic missiles) launched by Indian military forces that impact Pakistani territory (e.g., if an Indian missile or drone hits a target within Pakistan’s borders, this market will resolve to "Yes").
Missiles or drones that are intercepted before reaching Pakistani territory, as well as surface-to-air missile strikes, will not be sufficient for a "Yes" resolution regardless of whether debris lands on Pakistani soil or causes damage.
Actions such as artillery fire, small arms fire, FPV or ATGM strikes, ground incursions, naval shelling, cyberattacks, or any operation conducted by Indian ground forces will not qualify as a strike under this market.
The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.
