Incumbent Leonard Krog leads the Nanaimo mayoral race ahead of the October 17, 2026, general local election, backed by his record as a two-term mayor and former BC NDP MLA. Trader consensus reflects his incumbency advantages, established name recognition, and July 2026 re-election announcement emphasizing core municipal services. Anne Marie Dryden, positioned as the primary challenger under the newly formed REAL Nanaimo slate, trails with limited traction despite her long local business background and earlier campaign launch. Sarah Lovegrove’s recent entry adds another option but has not shifted probabilities noticeably. Low volume on other declared candidates leaves their individual outcomes near even money, underscoring the fragmented field outside the top two.
