Top-seeded Ben Shelton, world No. 6, meets No. 71 Alexander Blockx in the BMW Open by Bitpanda round of 16 on Munich's outdoor clay courts, where trader consensus favors Shelton's experience amid Blockx's upset momentum. Shelton grinded out a 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-3 first-round win over Emilio Nava on Monday, leveraging his powerful serve and 2025 runner-up finish here against Alexander Zverev. Blockx impressed in his ATP 500 main-draw debut, stunning home favorite Yannick Hanfmann 7-6(2), 6-2, building on a Monte-Carlo qualifying run to third round. No head-to-head exists; key factors include Shelton's clay-court prowess at this venue, Blockx's recent clay form, and potential weather impacts on big-serving styles.
