In the BMW Open round of 16 on Munich's clay courts, second seed Ben Shelton (world No. 6) meets surging Belgian Alexander Blockx (No. 72) in their first head-to-head clash. Shelton dug deep Monday for a comeback win over Emilio Nava (6-7, 6-3, 6-3), extending his strong 2026 clay form highlighted by a Houston ATP 250 title and 9-5 surface record. Blockx, riding momentum from a straight-sets upset of home favorite Yannick Hanfmann (7-6(2), 6-2), boasts recent clay successes including beats of Denis Shapovalov and Flavio Cobolli. Shelton's big-serving power and top-10 experience contrast Blockx's aggressive baseline game and breakout run, with no reported injuries influencing trader consensus on this ATP 500 matchup.
