Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez holds a recent edge over Luka Pavlovic, defeating the higher-ranked Frenchman 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 in the San Luis Potosi Challenger round of 16 just one week ago on clay, fueling trader interest in their Mexico City Challenger quarterfinal rematch. Both advanced grittily: Pavlovic (No. 200) survived three-setters against Facundo Mena and Aidan Mayo, showcasing 80 winners but conceding breaks; Pacheco (No. 270), the 20-year-old Mexican lefty, upset third seed Mackenzie McDonald 6-2, 6-2 before outlasting Bor Artnak 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, riding a 5-1 clay streak with semis in recent challengers. High-altitude clay at 2240m favors Pacheco's home familiarity and spin, though Pavlovic's aggression poses upset risk in this evenly split 1-1 head-to-head.
