In the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell qualifying final on clay, No. 54 Ethan Quinn faces No. 101 Daniel Merida Aguilar in their first head-to-head matchup at Pista Rafa Nadal. Quinn advanced with a straight-sets win over veteran Nikoloz Basilashvili yesterday, building on strong recent form including upsets over Hubert Hurkacz and Casper Ruud in Miami plus a Phoenix Challenger title last month; his 2026 clay record stands at 3-2. Home-favorite Merida, riding a hot streak with six wins in seven matches, beat Francesco Maestrelli in Q1 and recently upset Adrian Mannarino in Bucharest, showcasing clay prowess as a Spaniard. Trader consensus reflects Quinn's ranking edge against Merida's surface comfort and crowd support in this winner-advances-to-main-draw clash.
