Top seed and defending champion Alexander Zverev, world No. 3, opens his BMW Open title defense against No. 59 Miomir Kecmanovic on Munich's outdoor clay courts, where Zverev boasts superior surface history including strong French Open runs. Kecmanovic leveled their head-to-head at 2-2 with a recent three-set upset over Zverev in Acapulco's second round on hard courts in late February, injecting upset potential into trader consensus. Zverev arrives sharp from a Monte-Carlo Masters semifinals run, losing 6-1, 6-4 to Jannik Sinner on clay just days ago, while Kecmanovic shows mixed 2026 form. No injuries reported; home crowd and baseline matchup favor Zverev, though Kecmanovic's backhand confidence could test him early.
