World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion with a stellar 5-1 lifetime record at Monte Carlo on clay, enters the quarterfinals against No. 11 Alexander Bublik riding a bounceback surge after straight-set wins over Sebastian Baez and Tomas Martin Etcheverry this week, bolstering his 20-2 season mark despite earlier 2026 adductor concerns. Bublik, in career-best form, secured his maiden Masters quarterfinal here by dismissing Gael Monfils and Miami finalist Jiri Lehecka in straight sets, harnessing his big serve and unpredictable shotmaking on the slow clay surface. Their first head-to-head favors Alcaraz's superior movement, topspin baseline game, and clay pedigree, though Bublik's power and upset history add volatility ahead of the outdoor match amid mild spring conditions.
