Harshan Ramadass leads trader consensus at 61% for the Fernie, BC mayoral race ahead of the October 17, 2026 election, ahead of Kyle Hamilton at 32.5%, with numerous other declared or potential candidates priced at 50%. Incumbent Mayor Nic Milligan’s decision not to seek re-election opened the contest, prompting early announcements from both sitting councillors. Ramadass, who topped the 2022 councillor ballot with record votes, has emphasized decisive action on aging infrastructure, permitting reforms, and long-term fiscal planning. Hamilton has highlighted experience in regional advocacy for senior government funding to address wastewater, roads, and housing pressures. Nominations remain open until September 11, leaving room for additional entrants that could fragment support in the first-past-the-post contest.
