Recent National Weather Service forecasts indicate a frontal boundary approaching Chicago, shifting winds northerly and introducing scattered thunderstorms with a 40% chance on September 3, moderating temperatures from the mid-90s expected earlier in the week. Official guidance points to highs in the upper 80s inland but potentially several degrees cooler near Lake Michigan due to onshore flow and lake breeze effects. Model consensus centers on 87–89°F maxima, with uncertainty arising from storm timing, coverage, and intensity that could suppress or allow brief peaks near 90°F. This aligns with trader-implied probabilities favoring the 88–91°F range, reflecting the narrow spread in short-range guidance and historical September variability around an 80°F average high.
