Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a high near 78–81°F for Chicago on September 9, with partly to mostly cloudy skies, southwest winds of 10–15 mph, and a 60% chance of showers that limit afternoon heating. This aligns with the climatological normal high of roughly 79°F and follows a brief cooldown after early-September warmth, as a frontal boundary approaches from the northwest. Trader consensus reflected in the leading 80–81°F and 78–79°F brackets incorporates the latest forecast runs showing modest uncertainty around peak temperature, while lower and higher bins remain discounted given the expected cloud cover and precipitation timing. Updated model guidance and any revisions to the National Weather Service forecast will be the key near-term catalysts.
