**A heat wave driven by suppressed marine layer and offshore flow is pushing San Francisco’s September 9 high well above the 70°F seasonal average, with National Weather Service and local forecasts indicating potential peaks in the low-to-mid 90s downtown.** Recent model runs show reduced onshore winds allowing warmer interior air to reach the coast, consistent with the market’s tight clustering around 90–93°F outcomes. Key variables separating these bins include the precise timing and strength of any afternoon sea breeze return, microclimate differences between official stations and urban heat islands, and final NWS verification criteria. Historical September records exceed 100°F, but current conditions and ensemble guidance favor the 90–95°F window over extremes or sub-88°F readings.
