Persistent inflation data and geopolitical pressures underpin the strong 92.5% market-implied probability of no change at the July 28-29 FOMC meeting. April 2026 CPI rose 3.8% year-over-year—the highest since May 2023—driven by a 17.9% surge in energy costs amid the Iran conflict and elevated oil prices, prompting the Fed to maintain the 3.5%-3.75% federal funds target range in April despite internal dissent. Traders see limited scope for a 25 basis point move in either direction before clearer cooling in subsequent releases. A sharp decline in May or June CPI, or unexpected labor-market softening ahead of the June 16-17 FOMC gathering, could still shift positioning.

The resolution source for this market is the FOMC’s statement after its meeting scheduled for July 28-29, 2026 according to the official calendar: https://www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/fomccalendars.htm.
The level and change of the target federal funds rate is also published at the official website of the Federal Reserve at https://www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/openmarket.htm.
