Silver (XAG/USD) sentiment centers on the sharp volatility around the $70 level, with prices surging above that threshold for the first time in weeks before reversing lower to the mid-$66 area amid reactions to Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech. Persistent core inflation readings and a widening trade deficit have kept markets pricing in limited near-term rate relief, supporting a stronger dollar and higher real yields that raise the opportunity cost for precious metals. Bullish drivers include structural supply deficits and robust industrial demand from solar and electronics, while traders monitor upcoming economic releases and September FOMC positioning for shifts in monetary policy expectations that could influence the week’s price action.
