Local wildcard Valentin Vacherot has electrified the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters with back-to-back upsets, stunning fourth seed Lorenzo Musetti in the second round before outlasting Hubert Hurkacz 6-7(8), 6-3, 6-4 yesterday to become the first Monegasque player to reach the quarterfinals on home clay at Court Rainier III. Fifth seed Alex de Minaur, showing improved clay form (67% win rate over the last 52 weeks), advanced steadily past Cameron Norrie and teen prospect Alexander Blockx in recent rounds, setting up their first head-to-head. Vacherot's momentum and crowd backing challenge de Minaur's higher ranking (No. 6 vs. No. 23), experience, and baseline consistency, shaping a competitive ATP Masters 1000 quarterfinal amid perfect weather conditions.
