Trader consensus on Nicolás Maduro's potential US prison sentence remains tightly contested, with 60+ months at 35.5% edging no prison time at 32.5%, reflecting uncertainty in his ongoing New York federal trial on narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation, and firearms charges unsealed after his January 2026 US military capture in Caracas. A March 26 hearing saw Judge Alvin Hellerstein reject dismissal motions over sanctions blocking legal fees, signaling the case will proceed despite defense claims of unfair trial and irregular extradition—keeping conviction odds balanced against procedural hurdles. Lengthier outcomes hinge on rarely tested narcoterrorism statutes mandating 20-year minimums up to life; separation could come from witness testimony, cooperating defendants like ex-generals, or plea developments ahead of trial.
