Yordan Alvarez leads 2026 MLB intentional walks with nine through early June, ahead of Nick Kurtz's eight, as both post elite slugging and on-base marks that prompt opposing pitchers to issue free passes in high-leverage spots. Kurtz's recent multi-homer outbursts and .438 OBP for the Athletics keep him close, while Juan Soto's career reputation for drawing walks and Shohei Ohtani's power production sustain their shares despite fewer current IBB. The bunched probabilities reflect a wide-open race among feared middle-order bats whose IBB totals hinge on situational factors like lineup protection, late-inning deficits, and bullpen matchups rather than raw volume alone.
