Ovtcharov, world No.25, advanced comfortably with a 3-1 win over Cifuentes, leveraging veteran experience from Olympic medals and consistent shakehand aggression. Liang's WR No.13 ranking belies recent vulnerabilities in forehand power and stamina; realistic shifts could stem from an unreported Ovtcharov tweak or Liang's sudden offensive resurgence, though upsets remain rare at this stage.
