Gubernatorial elections are currently scheduled to be held in Fukushima on October 25, 2026. This market will resolve according to the listed candidate who wins the 2026 Fukushima gubernatorial elections. Any interim or caretaker Governor will not qualify. If the results are not known definitively by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". If no candidate reaches the legally required number of votes to win the election, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results as reported by government sources of Fukushima and Japan, including the Fukushima Prefecture Election Management Committee (https://www.pref.fukushima.lg.jp/sec/62010a/).Masao Uchibori's commanding position in the Fukushima gubernatorial race stems from his long tenure as incumbent since 2014, including decisive re-election victories in 2018 and 2022 with margins exceeding 88 percent. Traders price his high probability around consistent focus on post-2011 nuclear disaster reconstruction, including calls for accelerated efforts in the 2026-2030 phase, alongside broad cross-party support typical in Japanese prefectural contests. With the October 25, 2026, vote approaching and no prominent challengers generating significant momentum, the market reflects limited opposition visibility. Late developments such as a unified rival candidacy or major policy controversy could narrow the gap, though historical base rates favor strong incumbents absent such catalysts.
