This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Los Angeles International Airport Station in degrees Fahrenheit on 28 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=klax This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button. If NOAA data is unavailable or missing for the observation period, Weather Underground will be used as the secondary resolution source. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.Latest National Weather Service guidance and regional model consensus point to a hot but potentially moderated day across Los Angeles on August 28, with afternoon highs likely tempered by a developing marine layer and onshore flow that could cap peak readings near downtown and coastal stations. Traders appear to be weighting the higher probability of 84–87°F outcomes because recent model runs show increased low-cloud cover and slightly lower 850 hPa temperatures than earlier heat-wave projections, reducing the chance of widespread 90°F-plus readings despite the ongoing Extreme Heat Warning. Historical August climatology for the Los Angeles basin indicates typical daily maxima around 85–88°F when marine influences strengthen, providing context for why the closely matched 36% and 34% probabilities on the 84–85°F and 86–87°F bins reflect measured uncertainty rather than a simple continuation of the prior day’s hotter conditions. Upcoming afternoon observations from official NWS stations will resolve the market as the sea breeze and any residual heat advection compete.
