The Lima mayoral race on October 4 remains tightly contested due to a fragmented field of 22 candidates that has diluted support across established parties and independents amid ongoing voter concerns over security and governance. Recent polls show shifts following Luis Rubio's withdrawal, with Rafael López Aliaga rising to the top in some surveys while Carlos Bruce and Francis Allison maintain competitive positioning, reflected in trader pricing that treats the leading named contenders as closely matched. Primary drivers include weak party structures, limited name recognition for many aspirants, and the absence of a clear frontrunner after Peru's earlier national elections. Upcoming debates, candidate alliances, or late endorsements could consolidate backing and widen gaps before voting, while turnout patterns in key districts may further influence the outcome in this multi-candidate contest.
