Recent National Weather Service forecasts indicate a moderating trend for Chicago on September 7, with northeast winds and partly cloudy skies supporting overnight lows in the mid-60s, consistent with climatological averages near 62°F but cooler than the early-month heat wave exceeding 90°F. Trader consensus across bins reflects uncertainty in short-range model runs regarding the strength and timing of this onshore flow from Lake Michigan, which can suppress minimum temperatures by 3–5°F near the lake versus inland sites. Key variables include potential revisions in steering patterns from upstream troughs and dew point trajectories that could either lock in mid-60s readings or allow clearer skies and radiational cooling toward the lower 50s. Updated NWS guidance and ensemble spreads ahead of the date will likely refine these market-implied odds.
