The 2026 Martin mayoral election is currently scheduled to be held on October 24, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of Martin as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results as reported by government sources of Martin, Žilina Region and Slovakia, including the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (https://volby.statistics.sk/).The municipal election for mayor of Martin, Slovakia, scheduled for October 24, 2026, features a fragmented field of candidates with no dominant frontrunner. Michal Uherčík secured early backing from a broad opposition coalition including SaS, PS, and KDH, positioning him as a leading challenger focused on audits, investor attraction, and reversing population decline. Incumbent Ján Danko, in office since 2018, has neither confirmed nor ruled out a re-election bid as of late July. Independent candidates such as Matej Turzo, Milan Ftorek of the Reštart Martin platform, and Igor Hubáček (backed by Republika) have announced runs emphasizing transparency, resident engagement, security, and local infrastructure. Additional entrants including Renáta Habrunová further split the vote. Trader odds remain closely matched because the race hinges on undecided voter blocs, potential last-minute coalition shifts, and local priorities like parking policy, housing, and economic development, with any polling trends or candidate withdrawals likely to create separation before election day.
