This market will resolve to "Yes" if there is a confirmed case of Ebola in the territory of the specified country reported between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Any active laboratory-confirmed, or otherwise officially confirmed, Ebola infection identified within the territory of the specified country will qualify, regardless of where exposure, symptom onset, or testing occurred. The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the relevant national and international health authorities; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting will also suffice. The ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, already the fastest-growing on record with over 5,800 confirmed cases and nearly 2,800 deaths as of late August 2026, dominates trader sentiment for countries likely to report cases this year. Driven by the Bundibugyo strain amid conflict zones and high population mobility, the virus has reached Uganda, France, and Germany while spreading across six DRC provinces. Neighboring nations like South Sudan and Burundi face elevated risk from cross-border travel, though Uganda recently completed its 42-day monitoring period without new cases. Traders watch WHO updates, contact-tracing efficacy, and any late-year flare-ups as key swing factors before December 31.
